Case Study – Babcock International

Babcock International Group plc is a British multinational support services company specialising in managing complex assets and infrastructure in safety and mission-critical environments.
Employing around 7,000 people and with revenues of approximately £900 million, Babcock’s Defence and Security Division is a leading provider of infrastructure, equipment support and military training to all three Armed Services.
The Challenge
The working relationship between Babcock International and our Level 3 Services team goes back to 2011, with David being their personal consultant due to his extensive experience in the aerospace industry.
Babcock’s Defence and Security Division initially approached David regarding a need to meet the Level 3 requirements for their biggest client as at the time the organisation didn’t have the capacity in-house. A solution was needed swiftly in order to carry out repairs to a particular product.
In addition to carrying out Level 3 duties, personnel needed training and examinations to be organised on-site in order to carry out automatic and manual eddy current inspection.
The Solution
After an initial consultation, David immediately visited their site in Newark-on-Trent to carry out the training and examinations of personnel. Argyll Ruane now administers these examinations annually for Babcock as required by BS EN 4179 standards.
David also provided a cost effective solution for Babcock’s level 3 requirements, including auditing and consultancy, ensuring that their client remained satisfied and the project continued on schedule.
The Results
Babcock’s Defence and Security Division were very happy with the service provided and have kept David on as their Level 3 provider since this initial work and continue to be a valued client of Level 3 Services.
Babcock has also recommended David to their other aerospace sites around the UK, with work on reviews and approval commencing in York.
