The Institute of Corrosion redevelopment programmes are full steam ahead and running to plan.

There are a number of initiatives running which are all centred around increased membership with a focus on attracting the younger people from our community.

The principal of the development is to be able to assist members from Apprenticeship throughout their career to Chartered Status.

The Apprenticeship Scheme is now in place with a programme starting in January at DN Colleges and supported with the practical elements by Jack Tighe using the new ICATS Apprentice modules.

All of the inspector training programmes are being rewritten and the Engineering training programmes developed with the first part, “Fundamentals of Corrosion” already being delivered by Dr Jane Lomas.

Young ICorr is also a huge success with presentations at both Imperial College and Oxford University helping to increase student membership this year by over 100.

The next step up is the Young Engineer Programme, aimed at the Engineer that has been practising in industry for a few years but who needs to develop a broader knowledge of the industry. The programme is 11 months long and culminates in the teams presenting their findings on a Case Study which is delivered to ICorr London Branch in November. The winning team will be travelling to NACE Nashville in 2019 and completing a blog on their learnings daily.
