Bryan Ravenshear

Bryan – known as “Bry” to friends – is the Managing Director of Argyll Ruane, leading the business while continuing to operate as a Level 3 Consultant, Lead Auditor, and Deputy PCN Coordinator. Alongside his strategic leadership responsibilities, he oversees the Outside Agency department, the NDT Customer Services function, and the NDT Training department at the Sheffield facility. He also supports quality and operational activities, including auditing and onboarding new and existing training and examination centres.

With over 20 years’ experience in NDT, primarily within aerospace new manufacture and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) environments, Bryan progressed to NDT Level 3 within five years of starting his career, including achieving Rolls-Royce supplier Level 3 approval. His background spans operational leadership, special process management, and business unit management, bringing both technical depth and commercial awareness to the role. Bryan particularly values working with likeminded people who collaborate and continually strive for improvement.

Top tip for anyone entering the NDT industry: Be inquisitive – ask questions of those more knowledgeable and experienced, and absorb all you can.

Outside of work

Outside of work, Bryan enjoys staying active and exploring new places. Mountain biking, walking, and gym sessions feature heavily in his downtime, alongside travelling and experiencing different cultures. A few favourites:

• Food and drink: Spicy food (particularly Thai) and strong black coffee
• Screen and music: Gladiator and any uplifting music
• Holidays: Sri Lanka and mountain biking trips to Morzine
