What Argyll Ruane means to Kristian: Quality, teamwork, progression

Kristian is the Group Technical Manager for Argyll Ruane, responsible for implementing best practice, standardising processes, and driving continuous improvement across the business. Since joining in 2018 as a Level 3 Consultant, he has progressed through various senior roles, including Lead Auditor, Deputy PCN Coordinator, Quality Manager, and PCN Coordinator. In 2025, he was appointed as the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) Lead, acting as the main technical point of contact for ICorr training courses and related enquiries. Alongside his strategic responsibilities, Kristian continues to provide Level 3 consultancy services – acting as a responsible Level 3, writing procedures, conducting performance reviews and audits, delivering international training courses, and marking examinations.

With over 16 years of global experience, Kristian has applied Magnetic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Phased Array, and Radiographic Testing across Oil & Gas, General Fabrication, Power, Aerospace, and Nuclear sectors. He was first introduced to NDT during a gap year in Australia at the age of 18, where he took on a trainee role without knowing what NDT was – and has never looked back. What he enjoys most about working within the industry is the variation of industries and processes encountered, and the opportunity to continually learn and refine his expertise.

Top tip for anyone entering the NDT industry: Every day in NDT is a school day. Stay curious, be patient with those starting out, and share your knowledge – it strengthens the industry for everyone.

Be proactive, show initiative, show integrity – and be willing to get your hands dirty.”

Outside of work

Kristian enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has a passion for sport and also enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures, with Singapore a long-standing favourite destination. He also appreciates good food with strong flavours. A few favourites:

  • TV: Succession
  • Holiday: Singapore
