Melissa, known to most as Mel, is the Senior Exam Coordinator at Argyll Ruane, providing administrative support across examinations and ensuring compliance with PCN regulations. Her role includes managing exam schedules, processing results, preparing examination materials, and coordinating the admin team to ensure targets are met while delivering a consistently high level of customer service.
With previous experience at another training and examination centre in the material handling industry, Mel brought strong transferable skills into her role and has continued to develop her expertise over the past eight years with Argyll Ruane. She particularly enjoys working closely with colleagues, supporting candidates through what can often be a high-pressure process, and seeing more women enter the NDT industry, helping to shape a more inclusive future for the sector.

Outside of work
Outside of work, Mel enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, particularly countryside walks and dog training, including gun dog retrieval work. She also enjoys baking, shopping, and unwinding with music, books, and travel. Known for her empathy, Mel has a natural ability to see situations from other people’s perspectives, which helps her support those around her with care. A few favourites:
- Food and drink: Latin American-inspired food and a strawberry daiquiri
- Screen and reading: Deadpool, Friends, and The Lighthouse Witches
- Music and holidays: House and trance music, with Ibiza being a favourite destination
If Mel were a superhero: Deadpool — very chatty, a little sarcastic, and fiercely devoted to those she cares about.
