Ricky Brown

Based in Dunfermline.

Ricky is an NDT Trainer at Argyll Ruane, guiding students from having little or no knowledge of a method through to being fully prepared to pass their examinations. His role covers both the theoretical foundations and practical application of NDT methods, with a strong focus on helping students feel confident and relaxed throughout the course and exam process, as well as supporting candidates renewing existing qualifications. Having started his career in 2008 as an NDT apprentice in the oil and gas sector, Ricky brings 17 years of hands-on experience across refineries, fabrication, onshore and offshore projects, and worldwide work spanning oil and gas, renewables, distilleries, nuclear, and aerospace — allowing him to deliver training that is grounded firmly in real-world practice.

Outside of work

Outside of work, Ricky’s main focus is family life, with a toddler keeping him busy at soft plays and local parks. When he does get time to himself, he enjoys woodworking projects and building Lego. His tastes are just as varied when it comes to entertainment, from action films to comedy, and music that ranges from Linkin Park to Billy Connolly. A few favourites:
