We are delighted to announce the successful management acquisition of IMechE Argyll Ruane, marking a significant milestone in the organisation.

Building on its strong brand and heritage, the company will reinstate its former name Argyll Ruane Limited, which it used from 1998 – 2016.

Members of the management team, proudly led by Managing Director Bryan Ravenshear, bought the two trading entities IMechE Argyll Ruane and IMechE Fife NDT Limited, from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

The new owners, Bryan Ravenshear (Managing Director), Sally Taylor (Finance Business Partner) and Kristian Hampson (Group Technical Manager) are excited to advance the organisation’s legacy of success.

As the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) embraced a revised strategic direction, an extensive review was conducted of the enterprises within Professional Engineering Projects Limited, the Institution’s commercial arm. The goal was to ensure that these enterprises align with the Institution’s updated vision and strategic objectives and to assess whether the current ownership is conducive to fostering continued growth and success.  

The review concluded that, through having greater autonomy and adopting a more commercially focused ownership, IMechE Argyll Ruane would be able to better leverage its strong market position and many opportunities available.

Meet the owners

Bryan Ravenshear, Managing Director

Staring his engineering career at an Aerospace landing gear parts manufacturer, Bryan has worked in NDT since the age of 19 and has been a Level 3 for 14 years.

Bryan joined Argyll Ruane Ltd. in 2016 as Level 3 Consultant, Trainer and Examiner. Over time, he assumed various roles including PCN Coordinator, Quality Manager and Level 3 Services Manager, before advancing to General Manager in January 2023.

Sally Taylor, Finance Business Partner

Sally initially became part of Argyll Ruane Ltd. in 2010, prior to its acquisition by IMechE in 2012. Over the last 14 years, Sally has fulfilled numerous Finance Management positions within the IMechE Group.

Re-joining Argyll Ruane Ltd. as Commercial Finance Business Partner in January 2023, Sally leverages her long-standing knowledge expertise of the organisation and its operating sectors.

Kristian Hampson, Group Technical Manager

Kristian brings over 14 years of global expertise in Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Phased Array, and Radiographic Testing across Oil and Gas, General Fabrication, Power, Aerospace, and nuclear sectors.

Joining Argyll Ruane Ltd. in 2018 as a Level 3 Consultant, Kristian has progressed through various roles to Group Technical Manager, responsible for implementing best practice, process standardisation, and driving business improvement activities.
