We are pleased to welcome Ross Dickson to the Argyll Ruane team as our new Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Trainer.
Bringing industry experience into the classroom
Ross brings over 12 years of industry experience to the role, having built his career from the ground up at GMM Pfaudler, with a focus on glass-lined vessels for the pharmaceutical sector. His exposure to a variety of industrial environments has equipped him with a deep, real-world understanding of NDT applications in critical environments. This diverse background will bring valuable context and insight to the classroom, enriching the learning experience for students.
Holding both PCN and SNT Level 2 certifications in Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing, Visual Testing, and Radiographic Testing, as well as qualifications in Basic and Advanced Radiation Safety, Ross combines technical expertise with leadership and mentoring experience, having previously led his company’s NDT department.
A passion for quality and mentorship
His journey into NDT began on the shop floor, where a curiosity about quality control evolved into a passion for defect detection and teaching. He is currently expanding his knowledge in Ultrasonic Testing and embodies the same values that shape Argyll Ruane: excellence, integrity, and a commitment to advancing the industry.
Commenting on his appointment, Ross shared:
“Joining Argyll Ruane feels like a natural next step. I’ve had great experiences with the organisation in the past and have been familiar with team members like David Griffin and Andy Fox. I’ve always admired the standard of training and I’m excited to now be part of delivering that standard myself, helping students grow their confidence and capabilities, just as others helped me at the start of my own NDT journey.”
Ross officially joined on 10th March 2025 and has already begun shadowing our experienced trainers in preparation for leading his own classes. His appointment reflects our continued investment in high-calibre people and aligns with our mission to provide exceptional training, examinations, and consultancy services that shape the future of NDT.
