The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) Materials Testing event in Telford showcased the latest developments in the field of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), attracting industry leaders, professionals, and aspiring talent. Attendees engaged in discussions on technological advancements, best practices, and evolving standards across various sectors including oil & gas, aerospace, nuclear, rail, and manufacturing.
It was fantastic to have our team Kyle Duncan, Kristian Hampson, Lucy Norton, and Amy Schofield represent us at the event, which we shared with Sonaspection. We had great conversations with current and new clients, as well as people new to the NDT industry.
Raising awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion
Our Marketing Manager, Amy Schofield, presented a talk which focused on promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace. Chair of the BINDT Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group, she emphasised the importance of creating a more inclusive environment within NDT and shared actionable steps for companies to improve collaboration and representation.
Amy and our Operations Manager, Kyle Duncan, also supported a panel session alongside Caroline Bull, AWE and Richard Watson, AWE, which covered interesting discussions about potential barriers within the NDT industry and measures we can take to help overcome these barriers.
Award winning celebrations
A highlight of the event was the NDT 2024 conference dinner, where our very own David Griffin was honored with the Nemet Award. The award recognises examples of outstandingly effective use of NDT/CM/SHM, especially those that might encourage small firms to apply NDT/CM/SHM methods for the first time, over a period of 5-10 years or longer. Emerging talent was also celebrated, with Nathan Bate receiving the NDT Engineer of the Year Award for 2023-2024. Nathan’s experience in sectors like rail, oil & gas, and nuclear, combined with his work in the Rolls Royce small modular reactor project, highlighted his dedication to pushing the boundaries of NDT. His role at Argyll Ruane as a Level 3 Consultant, Trainer, and Examiner has already made a notable impact. Read full article here.
As the NDT industry continues to advance, it’s crucial to stay connected, informed, and inclusive. It was great to connect with people at the event, thank you to everyone who visited our stand and we look forward to seeing you at the next event!
